News on Mom

Mom's kidney function continues to improve and if her levels look good for the next couple of days, her doctor will remove the dialysis port. Her feet are still healing, although the tendon is still visible on right foot. It's a slow, slow process to heal from the inside out, especially when the cuts are so deep. The physical therapists usually come by daily to work with her. She has been able to take several steps with the walker, but she has a lot of trouble going from sitting to standing. She's very shaky and weak which is to be expected for someone who has been as ill as she has been. If mom can't get up on her own when she is discharged from the hospital, she might have to go to a rehab facility until she is more mobile. We really want her to go home, but it might be safer to go to rehab for a while. We will know more in a few days. Mom has been doing exercises on her own to build up strength. Every bit helps! She has amazing determination! None of this has gotten her down! Her DCH caseworker is communicating with home health for when she does go home. She will need her antibiotic twice a day so dad might have to learn how to administer the meds! I tell you, that man has learned how to do lots of things in a short time. Things I never thought he would do! Dr. White has determined that her last dose of antibiotic will be on February 14! Happy Valentine's Day to her!!

Thanks again for of your prayers and thoughts. We surely have been blessed! Love to each and every one!!

Just a thought and something for you to research and ask about... When I worked in plastic surgery we had a lot of wounds like those on your mom's feet- we would use wound vacs. They help wounds heal quicker and better, esp if she will have home health.
Glad she is doing better. Will continue to pray for her and your dad.
