When I came up with the idea to take the kids pic on the "30", I thought how easy it should be to pick up the kids from school and go to County High's field (it's within walking distance of Northport Elem). The numbers weren't painted on the TCHS field. So I declared a Plan B and went to Northridge High School's field which is within 2 minutes of our house. No numbers on the Northridge field.:( While looking for another field, I realized I needed gas (or "gase" per Abby). Getting gas became our Plan C. Now for Plan D. Plan D was to check out the Echols Middle School field. Numbers on the field!! Score one for the Lawson team!!




It was definitely, without a doubt, worth it!! Hope you have a wonderful 30th, Josh!! We love you, Coach!!

Eleven years ago today

Brady and I are celebrating 11 years of marriage today! I can hardly believe it's already been 11 years! It seems like yesterday that Brady asked me on a date. It seems like yesterday Brady and I were studying together in the science library at UA. It seems like yesterday Brady and I drove through a snow storm to get home to Berry. It seems like yesterday that someone, someone who really didn't matter, doubted our compatibility. It seems like yesterday when Brady got down on one knee for me. It seems like yesterday when I became an official member of the Lawson family, even though I'd felt like family years before. It seems like yesterday when Brady and I announced the upcoming arrival of our first baby and the first grandchild. It seems like yesterday we found out I was carrying our second child when our baby was only ten and a half months old. It seems like yesterday our son and third child entered our world. It seems like yesterday that our oldest started Kindergarten............now our youngest is in Pre-K.

What wonderful memories we have to look back on and what wonderful memories we have yet to make! We are so blessed to have each other, our children, our families, our friends. What an awesome day to celebrate!

It all started Sunday on our way to church. Emma was crying with a headache. By that afternoon she had a temp of 103.4. I gave her Motrin and headed to a clinic. An hour had passed since the Motrin, but her temp was still 103.4 so they gave her Tylenol. Shortly after the nurse left the room, she vomited. We changed rooms, found out her flu and strep tests were negative, and left the clinic without a diagnosis. Emma stayed home from school on Monday with round the clock Tylenol, but she never was without fever. Early this morning around 4 am, John Brady's fever started, so he stayed out of Pre-K today. When Brady left with Abby, she was upset and said she didn't feel good. We sent her on to school. Around 8:30 I received a call from Abby's teacher saying Abby's head was hurting. I talked with Abby on the phone and since she didn't have any fever I thought maybe she was ok to stay. Well, about thirty minutes later, her teacher called again so Brady went to get her. 1, 2, 3 just like that. All now have fever. 2 out of the 3 have vomited.

I knew this day would happen. All three are sick at the same time.

So for your health's sake I wouldn't so much as stick your big toe in our house until this terrible bug is gone. I've already sent Brady for refills of Motrin and Tylenol. Now I need refills of Lysol and sanitizer!

Happy Grandparents Day!!

John Brady can't write letters yet, but if he could, he would write how he loves him some grandparent time!! :)

We love you Nanny, Papa, MeMe, and Pop!! Thank you all so much for going above and beyond as grandparents! If I started listing things, I'd be here all day! But I do want to say that the most important thing you do is love and care for our children as much as we do. And that means more than the world to us!

Our Monday

Since John Brady has Pre-K Tuesday through Friday, Mondays are sort of a me and John Brady day. :) Last week John Brady and I spent Monday morning together in downtown Northport. I parked near a furniture store called Gracefully Done. The very first thing that caught our eye was this teeny, tiny baby lizard. John Brady became quite attached to this lizard and insisted on taking it with us.



I didn't want him to bring it in the store with us, but I've learned to pick my battles. Once in this very nice store, Gracefully Done, I realized John Brady was putting the lizard on the furniture and anything else he could find. It reminded me of a cat and mouse game! Except this was a 4 1/2 year old with big hands and an itty, bitty lizard. Poor lizard! I was looking at something and heard a little clang and realized John Brady no longer had the lizard. Oh, goodness! Do you see the little glass jewelry box with the pig on top of it? Right there in front of the "Guide Me" plaque? I pray for guidance. A lot! Yessiree, John Brady put the lizard in there and closed it. Number 1, I don't think the furniture store lady would want this lizard in her store, and number 2, most definitely NOT in her delicate pig jewelry box.

We (me, John Brady, and the lizard) left Gracefully Done, did a little window shopping and went in and out of a couple of stores. A lady that worked at another nice store tried to get John Brady to let the lizard go, but he wouldn't have it. We made it down to the Northport Five and Dime store. Lizard still in tow. We walked in and talked a bit with the owner. One of the customers in the Five and Dime asked John Brady if he STILL had that lizard!! How funny is that? This man apparently had seen us earlier that morning.

So then we crossed the street and went to Anders Hardware and it was here that John Brady parted with his lizard! John Brady decided he couldn't try out all of the Radio Flyer wagons, riding toys, etc. while holding the lizard. And I guess Anders just didn't have anything fancy enough to hold the lizard! John Brady released the lizard outside in a nice flower planter. We tooled around in Anders for a while. In the back of Anders, they have an old fashioned glass popcorn popper like the kind you would see at a fair. They keep popcorn popped for their customers so John Brady enjoyed a small bag.

After I purchased a produce basket from Anders, we headed back to the van which was about a block away. I decided to go to Northport Antiques. John Brady discovered this nice antique wooden potty chair and he thought it was the best thing since the lizard! I caught him backing up to it like he wanted to sit on it. Not a good idea. The price tag said $175. Guess those are kind of rare? I have to wonder who would want a used wooden potty chair and if someone did, where would they put it??

It was a great Monday with my little man! I look forward to many more before I have to send him to Kindergarten!

She survived!

Yesterday Emma got braces and she did great! Emma was very nervous, but she made it through with only a few tears at the beginning and at the end when they tightened them. The process took about an hour and a half. Emma only got brackets on the four top ones for now. The bottom are a "wait and see". Whew!

Since Emma's appointment was at 8:15, I was able to check her into school around 10:30. She was excited to see her classmates and show them her new braces. You know how kids love show and tell! Too funny!

Thank goodness I remembered to cut Emma's lunch sandwich in little squares, however, I didn't think about the bread getting caught in the braces. So she ate just the ham squares. I also packed jello and yogurt for her. Emma brushed her teeth after lunch like she was supposed to. YAY Emma!!

Each Lawson child is pretty particular about their sandwich anyway!

Last night Emma enjoyed phone calls from Aunt CiCi, MeMe, and Pop. It makes a little girl feel so good to know she's loved!!

I've been giving her Motrin quite regularly. She wasn't sore until this morning. I expect it to get a little worse before it gets better. Thanks for all of your sweet comments, phone calls, and messages!

If only the media knew..................

It was Tuesday morning. CNN was blasting in the background. I was getting ready in my bathroom. Emma and Abby were eating breakfast.

Abby: They are STILL talking about him.

Emma: Who?

Abby: You know. His name is Michael, ummm, Michael ?????

Emma: Johnson?

Abby: Yes! Michael Johnson! Remember they were talking about him back when we went to the beach? That was a long time ago.

Emma: Yeah, I remember.

Abby: And they are STILL talking about HIM! It's because he was a very IMPORTANT person.


I laughed to myself as I thought about how all the coverage on Michael Jackson must appear to a child.
