Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Race

We took the kids to the Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Race on Saturday. They got to touch a balloon as it was being inflated! How cool is that? The balloons were all so beautiful! We had a great time!

Maybe tonight will be better

Last night was quite interesting, but not at all unusual. John Brady has such a difficult time going to sleep and last night was no different. I had to make him (more like force him) to sit with me until he finally gave it up and went to sleep. I settled back into my nice big chair when Emma appeared in the living room and said that she couldn't sleep. I told her she could get on the couch. Brady left the living room to go to our bed. Emma and I stayed up watching House together until I fell asleep. At some point I woke up and realized Emma had gotten in bed with Brady because I couldn't stay awake with her.

I went back asleep on the couch only to wake up around 11:30 pm when John Brady crawled onto the couch next to me. He said his tummy was hurting. John Brady fell back asleep and I put him in the chair and covered him with a quilt. I went back to sleep on the couch and was awakened a couple of hours later to find John Brady sitting up in the chair drinking a Coke Zero and watching TV!!! Drinking a Coke Zero!! I took the can away and made him lay down again only to be awakened again around 4am when I heard John Brady crying that his tummy was hurting again. He was in his bedroom floor trying to put on clean underwear. He got back on the couch with me after putting his underwear on and told me there was tee-tee in the floor in the bathroom. I got up to find a lot of tee-tee in the floor and a poo-poo filled toilet!! Diarrhea!! I cleaned the tee-tee and followed the brown droplets to his room to the spot where he had been sitting on the carpet trying to change his underwear. I cleaned the carpet and returned to the couch to sleep next to John Brady.

Next Abby appeared in the living room and was upset because she was all alone in her room. I told her to get in the bed with Emma and Brady, but she wanted to stay in the living room with us. So there we were, all three wide awake watching Little House on the Prairie together at 4:30 in the morning! I kept trying to figure out what Charles and Caroline would do. I started to doze off only to be awakened by Abby asking me how the tooth fairy gets inside the house. My eyes sprung open. Yikes!!! Abby's tooth was still under her pillow and it was 5:30 in the morning!! I knew I had a $10 bill in my purse, but no change! So I dug into the back of our closet to get Abby's ziploc piggy bank (her piggy bank was busted by John Brady several months ago when he rolled it off the bed) so I could make change. Yes!!! Thanks to generous grandparents Abby had enough $1 bills to make change. I snuck past Abby and went into her room and put 5 ones under her pillow. I crawled back onto the couch and actually fell asleep. Abby went to sleep, but John Brady stayed awake until 8:30 pm tonight!!!!

Happy Birthday Mom!!!!

Today we went to mom's house to celebrate mom's birthday. It was mom's wish that we come to her house to eat with her and dad for her birthday. It was also her wish that she do all the cooking!!! Mom cooked a ham, dressing, green beans, potatoes, rice, and rolls. Mom always makes the BEST dressing and bakes an awesome ham. The kids and I baked her a birthday cake. Em, Ab, and JB3 each helped make their own layer, from mixing to the frosting. It was a very cute cake and yummy too!

For her birthday I gave mom a digital photo frame. I spent a lot of time going through about a thousand or more pictures, and saving about 230 to the frame. I started with Emma's birth and ended with mother's day this year. Whew!!! It was a job, but it was SO worth it!!! Going through those pics was certainly a sentimental journey remembering every little story surrounding every little picture. I chose more candid shots than the posed ones, and it tuned out to be the best gift I could have given her. Now I want one for myself. :)

Happy Birthday Mom!!! We love you!!!!!

(john brady had just hurt his tummy right before the pic so he has tears in his eyes--poor thing)

One last thing before I go

As an audiologist, I have fit many, many people with hearing aids, but none as special as this little lady! I ordered Granny's hearing aids a couple of weeks back so I was happy to see them arrive yesterday. The girls and I took the hearing aids to her this evening.

Abby documented the event with pictures.

I discussed use and care with Granny.

From my hands to hers

Showed her how to insert her hearing aids

Now she can hear her great-grandbabies much better!!! :)

Granny was so happy to get her hearing aids and said she would wear them every day!!

Love you Granny!

A Quick John Brady Funny

I took John Brady to Publix with me after work for a few groceries. When I got to the van to unload the groceries, I let John Brady climb into the van and into his seat. I put all the groceries in the van, got in, buckled, put the van in reverse, turned to look back and realized I hadn't buckled John Brady. I said oh, goodness, you aren't buckled. John Brady said it's ok, you can do it when we get home. :)

Remember the post about John Brady and the scissors????

Well, just let me tell you! John Brady has this thing about scissors and a few months back he went on a cutting spree. Nothing was spared. Not curtains and not even Cooper's whiskers! Yesterday he was drawing and coloring at the table while I was doing some work on the computer. He wanted to cut out his picture so Brady gave him some safety scissors. John Brady cut on his paper for a while and then he disappeared. About the time I realized he took the scissors with him, he came walking back to the table. While holding the scissors in one hand, JB3 held up a wad of strawberry blonde hair in his other and said, "Look what I found in the bathroom floor!"

He still denies that he cut his hair! Such a stubborn boy! Brady claims he gets that from me and the Hocutt side of the family (my maternal side of the family). Probably so!

Emma's Favorite Room---My Studio

Emma's teacher, Mrs. Hughes, asked the class to paint a picture of their favorite room in their house. Emma drew a picture of my "studio" which is actually our old dining room and is part of a huge open area that includes our living room. So if you look toward the "studio" from our living room this would be your view. In her picture she drew my Easter set up (the yellow backdrop, 2 lights on each side, and the Easter planter). I guess she threw in the Alabama A's for fun! Very cute and detailed!! And Emma drew all of this from memory!!

When the "studio" is not in use, the open floor serves as a great place for practicing gymnastics. So I'm really not sure if she likes that area more as a studio or for a little tumbling. Here's the theory I like most: Maybe, just maybe, Emma knows the more often the studio is set up, the more time mommy can be with her! Ten more working days folks!!! Ten more days until my work time revolves around my family time!!! :)

A Terrific Mother's Day!

It all started when I woke up early this morning to find not one, not two, but THREE extra folks in my bed! You see that tiny space next to John Brady?? Yep, that's where I was! Holding on for dear life! No not really!! I was actually cuddled right up to my sweet son! And before I moved to the other side of JB3, I was an Emma/John Brady sandwich!! Oh, how I will miss these mornings one day when they are all grown!

Three of the most precious gifts EVER!

After church we ate at Logan's for Mother's Day. I handed the camera over to Emma and Abby and here's some examples of their fine photography skills. I always get a kick out of the pictures they take.

And these next two??? Well, I'm just gonna say Brady was at the grocery store and I was in a semi-coma on the verge of a much needed nap, when I looked across the room to see John Brady wearing a Belle wig!! The girls and I got so tickled!!! He was so into whatever was on the television that he didn't know I took his picture. Afterwards I showed him the picture and the next shot I took was the one with the HUGE smile! Gotta love John Brady's smile!!

At least he's wearing his daddy's shirt. Maybe his daddy won't explode when he sees this pic!!! LOL!!

Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mothers and grandmothers in my life!!! You all inspire me each and every day!!!

To my mom, my miracle,
A few months ago I cried each time I posted an update on you.
Today I cry again. You are here.
Happy Mother's Day Mom!!!

I love you more than words can say.
