Uncle Josh Is In For The Week!!

As most of you know Josh is now the linebacker coach at Southern Arkansas University. Josh's spring break is this week so he came in on Monday and will be leaving on Friday. He came to visit with us on Tuesday and we went to Jalapeno's to eat dinner. The kids loved seeing their Uncle Josh and of course, he loved seeing them. It's hard to believe he's living in Arkansas now, but we know Josh is doing what makes him happy. And that makes us happy!!!

Josh always supports his team by wearing some sort of team shirt-----even when he's not working!! Abby is reading the Southern Arkansas logo to John Brady. Abby proudly supports Southern Arkansas, too!! See her in the picture below. She was so tempted to ride the mule (ok, maybe its a donkey, but to us it's a mule) statue that is in the front of Jalapeno's. Go Muleriders!!

Ahhh, here's one from several years ago when Emma and Abby did ride one of the mules at Jalapeno's. See Josh. I guess it was a sign of things to come!

Weren't they adorable!!!! I can not believe how much they've grown!
Makes me all sad and teary eyed!

Quick Update on Mom

I haven't posted anything about mom in a while. I've had several folks asking about her so I thought I would give an update. Last Thursday was an exciting day for Mom because it was the FIRST time for her to drive since getting sick in early November and for all three kids spent the night with her and dad!!! We had been sending the kids one at a time because it was just too much on her for all three to go. I tell you it was sight to behold when mom pulled out of the driveway. They even took the kids to Applebee's for dinner!!! When I talked with her the next day, she said she was really tired but it was a GOOD tired!!

Mom continues to improve each day. She gets tired and weak easily, but that's part of the recovery process.

Today is also a big day for her. Mom will get the girls from school for the first time! We didn't tell them so it would be a surprise. I wish I could be there to see their faces when they see Nanny waiting for them!!!

MeMe's pick up day has always been Tuesday and mom's day has been Wednesday. Since mom's illness, MeMe has been getting them on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thank you MeMe for helping us so much!!

The kids enjoy every minute with their grandparents. It's very special to them and us.

An Ingenious Observation........for a 4 yr old

I just can't help but write about the things that come out of John Brady's mouth. Out of the blue on our way home from school, John Brady said, "Momma, the white crayon don't work?" I said, "It doesn't work on white paper, does it?" He said, "on black?" "Yes, son, it works on black paper."

  • Now, I don't know about you, but the white crayon never needed sharpening when it was in my Crayola Crayon Box! You just gotta wonder why there is a white. It's even puzzling to my 4 year old. After a little research, I found that the white crayon was not one of the original colors created in 1903 and it wasn't until 1949 that a white Crayola crayon became available! I wonder why Binney & Smith (the inventors) decided to add the white crayon. Like John Brady said ................. "It don't work."

Oh, the things he says!

****Please let me preface this post by saying I do not have the slightest idea how or why this conversation was a conversation!!!

A couple of nights ago, John Brady was in our bed laying with me. This was our conversation:

  • JB3: Momma, you got a little baby in you tummy?
  • Me: No, John Brady. I don't.
  • JB3: Momma, you got a BIG baby in you tummy?
  • Me: No, John Brady. I don't.

He paused for just a second and then:

  • JB3: A medium one?

Apples of Gold Banquet

Our church sponsors a wonderful teacher appreciation banquet every year. Each child can invite one teacher and her teacher sits at a table hosted by the child's family. Each family is responsible for decorating their table and during the meal, the family is to see to it that their teacher's needs are taken care of. This was the first year for us to participate and I am so glad we did!

Emma's teacher couldn't be there, but it worked out well to have Ms. Thomas there since she was Emma's 1st grade teacher, too. We missed you, Mrs. Hughes. Hope you have great time on your trip! Thank you for being a great teacher!

We enjoyed our night with Ms. Thomas so much! It's been a blessing to have her as a teacher for the past two years! Ms. Thomas, we think you are AWESOME!!

A BIG thanks goes to MeMe for helping me decorate the table!!

The kiddos waiting at the front of the church for our guest of honor.

Ms. Thomas' mother took this pic for us! ;) By the way, another FAV of ours was at the banquet. Mrs. Fanning, Emma and Abby's Kindergarten teacher, was there with one of her students. Enjoyed seeing you, Misty!

John Brady loves "Mith Thomath", too!

Osmosis Excuse Already?

Reading is so important for kids, so Emma and Abby's teachers ask that they read every night. We have good intentions of reading each night, but I have to admit, we don't always follow through. We are so thankful to have good readers!

On this particular evening, Abby was diligently reading her library book while Emma was in the bath and John Brady was ???? (probably getting into trouble). Brady and I were running around trying to get "things" done, when I noticed Abby was completely still and I couldn't hear her little voice. I peaked over the book and she was asleep! She was trying, Ms. Thomas, but "Mr. Sandman" came calling!

He's asleep! Hallelujah!!

Last Friday night John Brady spent the night with MeMe and Pops and he had a blast! MeMe reported that John Brady commented on the sounds she made while sleeping. I will not reveal just what he said, but I just want MeMe to know that the very next night when John Brady "crashed" right next to me, he sounded just as he described you! Only he had lots of drool! He was so tired from the big time he had with you, Pops, and Lawson and from the snow. John Brady had a really fun time! Thanks for keeping him! Brady and I enjoyed our relaxing night, especially since the girls were away too! Thank you mom and dad for taking the girls for the night! I think mom and dad had as much fun as the girls! Probably more!

It's a sight to behold when John Brady sleeps!!

It snowed and I missed it!

We finally got snow and I totally missed it! I came down with pharyngitis plus an allergic reaction on my eyelids over the weekend so when Brady came to tell me we had snow I just rolled over and said, "Really?" Then I heard John Brady say, "Santa Claus is coming! Hallelujah!!" He is so funny! A little bit later between clawing my eyes and the body aches, I yelled from my bedroom, "Brady, take some pics!" Brady took some pics, all right! All two of them! So when I finally dragged myself out of bed, I took a few, but from the inside.

I know!! I know!! They aren't quite dressed for the occasion, but this is when they first saw it and HAD to go out right then!

This was the view when I ventured out of my room.

Brady made snow ice cream!!

And Lucky took a front seat (a Spongebob fold out seat) to the snow and all it's glory!

Today. after getting a steroid shot, taking a Xyzal (antihistamine), and two Benadryl, I decided I had to see a dermatologist! I could not stop scratching my eyes!! The dermatologist worked me in at 2:30 today. Thank goodness! The doctor said I had contact dermatitis and it was probably from an allergic reaction to the dye in my mascara. I will probably have some testing done to find out for sure. He gave me some samples of eye cream and a Rx, which I couldn't get filled b/c of a discrepancy in the way the script was written and what the pharmacy carries. Ugghhh!
I just took a couple more Benadryl because I can not stop scratching and rubbing my eyes. My eyelids are RAW! I am so MISERABLE! Brady suggested I take something to knock me out to keep from scratching. Typing this has kept my hands busy, but I have stopped several times to scratch, rub, and pat my eyes. Come on, Tylenol PM! I am waiting for you to start working!
Does anyone have any suggestions? Please let me know if you do! Recommend a mascara. Tell me how to deal with the constant itching. Anything!
