Each Day, A Step Closer

This picture was taken on John Brady's birthday. My mom is certainly looking more like herself. I have noticed a tremendous change in her in the past few days. She walked into our house all on her own WITHOUT her walker!!! It was a site to behold! John Brady started yelling, "Nanny is better! Nanny is better!" After almost knocking mom down, he ran through the house to tell Emma and Abby his news.

I took mom to for follow up appointments with two of her doctors last week and she had another appointment this week. All three doctors gave mom great reports!! She was referred to as "a miracle" more than once. It was very surreal to hear one of her doctors talk about how worried he had been about her condition and how he had been uncertain about her ever leaving the hospital.

The incisions on mom's feet are healing quite well. As of this week, she only has one huge bandage on her left foot. She has been accustomed to a lot of padding and bandages, so now her feet feel very "naked" and unprotected. She is still on a lot of medications, including her IV antibiotic, which she administers to herself 3 times a day. This was a big step for her. A physical therapist still comes out twice a week plus mom does exercises in between visits. She is regaining strength in her legs and arms. Her hands still shake pretty badly. The shaking should improve as she gets stronger.

Mom has missed taking care of her grandbabies and can't wait til the day she can resume her grandmotherly duties!! Mom is also looking forward to seeing her chickens and rabbits, driving, and being outdoors.

Sometimes, it's the small things in life that give the most pleasure.

That's great. It brought tears to my eyes as I was reading your post. Prayer is a great thing as is determination on your moms part,

Wonderful News~God is still in control and I'm sure HER faith is made stronger everytime she reaches another milestone, and so is OURS.She's evidence of answered prayers.

Great update, Kim. And what a blessing that photo is to remind you both how far you've come.
