Seven Habits of Highly Effective People/Abby's 4th Grade PTO Program

Huntington Place Elementary has implemented The Leader in Me (click here for more info), a whole-school transformation model that emphasizes leadership skills. This model is based on The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, the best selling book by Dr. Stephen Covey, and each of the seven habits were presented by the 4th graders at the PTO meeting last week.  The Leader in Me is a phenomenal school wide model that gets phenomenal results!

Nanny, what is that blue stuff they put on babies in the hospital??

John Brady stayed with my mom and dad Saturday night and there's ALWAYS a story or several stories from his adventures at Nanny and Papa's house!  Since this visit came shortly after the arrival of his baby cousin, Lily, he had a good question for mom.

JB3:  Nanny, what is that blue stuff they put on babies in the hospital?
Nanny:  Blue stuff??  I don't know.  Where was it on the baby?
JB3:  on her private
Nanny:  What?!?!
JB3:  on her private.  her wee-wee.  and there was a clip on it too!!

by this time mom's mind was working overtime trying to figure this one out!

Nanny:  A clip?  Ohhhh, you mean her navel.  (now who says "navel" you might wonder.  my mother and my granny of course!)
JB3:  huh? what is a navel? (he's really confused now)
Nanny:  You know, it's right there (pointing to JB3's tummy).  A belly button.

John Brady said ok, but it still didn't make much sense to him even after Nanny explained how Lily's belly button was connected to Aunt CiCi.

And the poor child still didn't know what the "blue stuff" was?!?!

(btw the blue stuff was the triple dye solution to help prevent infection)

Emma's 11th Birthday

TGIS! (Thank goodness it's Sunday) This has been one of the busiest weeks EVER!! For the most part our week went as planned. Well, that is except for the expected, but unexpected grand entrance of my adorable baby niece, Lily, AND the horrible stomach bug that hit Abby while staying overnight at a friend's birthday party last night!

So, last Thursday was my dear first born's 11th birthday, and as usual the festivities began that morning with the usual birthday breakfast. Later that day Brady and I visited Emma during her lunch time at school and took cupcakes for the class. For dinner, we always go the birthday child's restaurant of choice. Emma's chose one of her very favorite places, IHOP.

Happy Birthday Emma!! We had a wonderful time celebrating with you!! We love you so much!!

Emma's 2nd Horse Show at Westminster Farm

Emma performed in the cross rail class in her 2nd horse show back on the first day of October

 and she was awesome!! 

There is no denying her love of horses and riding!!

It's so heartwarming to see your child doing something she truly enjoys.
