Waiting on our baby cousin
Last night as we were eating at the dinner table, I asked my girls when did they think Aunt CiCi's baby was going to get here. Emma said, "The end of May". I said, "Are you sure?" Emma replied, "Yep, the end of May." I think someone has told Emma that it will be "on into May" when the baby comes and she has translated it as "the end of May" (poor Aunt CiCi). I told Emma and Abby their baby cousin could be here as early as tonight, but they just could not understand. I am sure Aunt CiCI doesn't want to wait to the end of May!!!! And neither do we! We are waiting to see you, Baby Long!

Well, it has been yet another activity-filled weekend for us. I took John Brady for what seemed like his 100th haircut, and then we all headed to the ballpark for Abby's tee-ball game. Abby had a couple of great hits, for Abby, anyway, and she has learned to increase her running speed. Now if we could just get her to pay attention in the outfield!! Most of my video footage includes Coach Andy standing next to Abby (he knows this is a must) reminding her to keep her eye on the ball as she draws figure 8's in the sand with her cleats and swings herself around and around until she staggers. On Sunday, while Brady was at the Talladega race, we planted bushes, hit some balls, and caught a frog!! Later we played with "Baby Allie" and found some lizards! John Brady had loads of fun chasing the lizards!! In their baskets for Easter, I gave each of the kids a bird feeder. They got to paint them and hang them in our backyard. So today Allie and John Brady took turns filling up the bird feeders and emptying them again and again! Now, it is Sunday night and I am pooped! I will have to go back to work so I can get some rest. Ha!

Kids Say the Funniest Things
I was stopped at the traffic light in front of Abby and John Brady's school, Abby noticed the big front end loader type machinery and asked me what it was doing. I vaguely answered her, not really paying her a whole lot of attention. Abby said, "Mommy, mommy, I know what it's for, it's bringing sand to our sandbox at school!"
This morning, Emma, said, "Mommy, do you know everything in this world?" I said, "No baby, I don't." So then she said, "But I thought the other day you said you did!"
A few months ago, I spoke to Abby's school for Community Helpers Day. Since I am an audiologist, I was teaching about hearing, hearing aids, and the anatomy of the ear. I know it sounds over the top for 3-5 yr olds, but I just knew those children had to be as smart as my Abby. So just a day or so ago, I was cleaning Abby's ears and she was crying and squirming to get away and she said, "Mommy, please stop, you're gonna hurt the bones in my ears!" She remembered my little lesson on the three bones in the ear!

Beach 2007
This year was the first time Brady and I braved a beach trip with the kids alone! We have always taken at least one set of grandparents, and sometimes BOTH! The kids certainly kept us on our toes, but we loved it!! Although the weather was on the cloudy and rainy side for about a day and a half, we found activities to keep us busy: hiding Easter eggs in the condo, playing card games, blowing bubbles, swimming in the indoor pool, snacking, hot-tubbing, and taking long naps. Then the next day or so was spent playing in the sand and enjoying the sunshine. My kids absolutely love the beach and swimming so it really was a super duper treat for them. The love of the ocean probably started when we took Emma at just 3 months old. She made such a cute beach baby! We have since been to the beach each summer, and to my kids vacation=beach!
