John Brady's 6th Birthday

John Brady's birthday waffle
(the spots on his cheeks are tattoos that would not come off!)

John Brady celebrated his birthday with his class. I brought chocolate cupcakes with green icing as he requested. :)

His friends had loved the green icing!

For dinner he wanted to eat at Kobe.

John Brady hardly ate a thing at dinner. He was totally into our chef cooking on the Hibachi grill.

Night Terrors

John Brady has been having night terrors for about a year now. He has them about once a week and almost always when he's had a really exhausting day. We always try to wake him, but he never truly wakes up. I stopped this video before he got too upset, and just when I couldn't keep myself from trying to hold him. It's disturbing for us to see him like this. The only thing that makes us feel better is that he doesn't know what's happening. He never remembers having a night terror.

I'm no "Tiger Mom". A Lioness, perhaps.

***"Tiger Mom" is the author of a controversial book describing how she parents her two daughters.

That's right.  A lioness protecting her cubs.  On more than one occasion since the school year began, my Abby has been taunted by a boy in her class.  Even her teacher mentioned how this boy has been bothering Abby.  Well, that was about 4 months ago.  I have to admit I chalked it up to boy/girl spats in the beginning.

Again today, my baby girl looked up at me with HUGE tears in her eyes recounting what happened.  Abby wore a red, white, black, and gray plaid coat to school today.  This boy said in his smarty pants tone, "That coat looks like something a grandma would wear!"  Now I know his comment doesn't sound so bad, however, it's the manner in which he said it, and the fact that he's been on a destroy-Abby's-self-esteem mission since day one!  My patience is running out.  My claws are about to emerge.  I'm ready to pounce.  I'm angry.  I admit it.  I've always told Abby to ignore him.  Today I looked at Abby's tear-stained face and told her to tell that boy his name sounds like a name a grandpa would have!  I know.  Hard core.

Really, though.  This lioness is tired of him upsetting her cub.  I will keep praying for patience and guidance.  And sharper claws!  ;)

Lawson Men Time: Camp House Pics from the Daddy-cam

Brady, John Brady, Uncle Josh, and Pops stayed at the camp house together over the Christmas break.  John Brady had a really good time!  He especially liked the fireplace, or should I say the "fire".  I think he's got more than a little bit of his daddy in him!

White doughnuts---a JB3 favorite!  If you ever need to bribe him, give him powdered doughnuts!  :)

When I saw these pictures, I asked Brady if this was a slide.  He said yeah, a slide for deer guts!  So that's probably why JB3 was so interested in it!

Once in the shooting house it was just a little more than a little boy could take.  He fell asleep!!  Sorry Pops!  Not sure JB3 is gonna be a hunter.

By the fire.........again

Ahhh, Uncle Josh time!

New Year's Eve 2010

Brady and I planned to spend New Year's Eve with Jamey and Brenna this year.  We don't usually make big plans for New Year's Eve, but this year I felt the need to be in Hernando, Mississippi with the Feltmans.  So it was planned.  The morning we were supposed to leave Brady came down with a nasty stomach bug so me and the kids headed out leaving Brady to get some much needed rest.  Jamey and I attended a New Year's Eve party at the home of one of his friends while Ms. Hilda kept the kids for us.  Thank you, Hilda!!  It was great to meet some of Jamey's friends and to spend the evening with Jamey.  We all rang in the new year with hats and crowns, champagne, and noise makers.  At precisely 12:03 a.m. my phone rang and this is what I saw

A little startled even though I knew there was a logical explanation.  I took a deep breath and answered.  It was Emma calling me using Michelle's phone.  Then Abby called me at 12:05.  For the first time ever my girls made it to midnight on New Year's Eve.  After I hung up I kept flashing back to my phone screen and silently thought Happy New Year to you, too, Michelle!!  Miss you girl!!

On New Year's Day Jamey and I took the kids to a nearby park to play.  They had a lot of fun playing on the playground, but had the most fun putting on a pretend puppet show.

Happy 2011 Everyone!!  May you be blessed all year long!!
