Happy Birthday Uncle Josh!!

I normally wouldn't post a picture of a gift before it was given, but the kids have worked very, very hard on Uncle Josh's gift this year, furthermore, my dear husband has demonstrated to me that showing someone their gift online isn't totally unacceptable (another story for another day!).

Sooooo, Uncle Josh here is a sneak peek of your birthday gift!

(wish I had one of those click here to open book buttons like B & N--that would be cool)

Bet you can't wait until next weekend
so you can read the rest!
I know we can't!!
Hope your day is fantastic!!
We love you!!

My Morning

We have several hummingbirds coming to our feeder in our backyard. Since I had been wanting to take some pictures of them, I thought this morning's fog would make for a great background. By the way, my hummingbirds don't like each other so they squeak and squawk at each other and will not allow coexistence at the feeder).  I made myself eggs and toast, got my camera, and my phone and set up on my back porch waiting on my subjects. While I was waiting, I started reading some of my favorite blogs from my iphone, when I read the latest post on this  blog.  What a coincidence!  She enjoys photography and had just posted some really cool ones.  So while I was waiting on my perch for my subjects, I started looking for interesting shots from right outside my back door.  Here are a few of my favorites:

In honor of Halloween

Ok.  Now these hummingbirds were more difficult than I thought, especially trying to shoot both at once.  I had a hard getting my camera to focus those fast little birds instead of the feeder.  So the focus isn't all that great on the birds, but hey, that bright feeder is tack sharp!  :)

My kids love this song

I had to add it to their ipods this week!

Daddy-Daughter Date

Brady took Abby to the Alabama/Arkansas game on Saturday. They looked so sweet together so of course I had to take some pics!  They did the whole tailgate thing on campus so they left a few hours before game time.  Brady and Abby had a great day together.  Abby really enjoyed having Daddy all to herself and having his ear for ALL of her questions!  I feel one on one parent/child time is very important for the kids as well as the parents.

Abby to Emma---We ate a real hog at the tailgate because Alabama was playing the Arkansas Hogs!!

Here's some pictures from their day made with Brady's phone.
The one with Allie is from Christy's phone.

Hanging out in the backyard

It's been a crazy week here at the Lawson house. About a month ago we decided the concrete staining in John Brady's room wasn't happening. So we decided to go with hardwood in his bedroom, Abby's bedroom, and our bedroom. On Sunday Brady and I moved John Brady's furniture and Abby's furniture to the garage. We also removed Abby's carpet. The floor guys started installing the hardwood on Monday. On Tuesday Brady and I moved our dining room table to the living room and moved our bedroom furniture to the dining room. Then we removed our bedroom carpet. So by Wednesday morning all of our bedrooms and closets were empty!

Wednesday afternoon Brady burned the carpet pile while the kids played in the backyard. We relaxed in the cool evening air watching the fire burn and the kids play.

The flooring guys finished up Thursday by lunch time.  We were so happy to get our house back together or at least 80%!  The floors look great!  Can't believe we waited this long to do it!  I'll post pictures soon!

Emma's 1st Horse Show

Emma started horseback riding lessons June 16th, and on August 21st, she participated in her first show!  I had only been to one show prior to this one, so this is a new experience for me.

I've since purchased this

Hopefully the language of horseback riding lessons will sink in soon!  Terms like 2 point, cantering, trotting, posting, etc. are already making a lot more sense now.  :-)

Enough about me!  Here's the star of this post strutting her stuff!

I would love to know what was being conversed between these two!

Love that I caught her proud daddy in the background videoing!

And here we have Miss Emma Lawson with Parker taking three 3rd place ribbons
and two 2nd place ribbons!!

Congratulations Emma!!  What a great first show!!
