Spring Break 2010: Memphis Zoo with the Feltmans and the Beardens

Upon our arrival at Jamey and Brenna's, I found this waiting in the bathroom for us. Felt like I was at a hotel! Thanks, Jamey!! You were a terrific host, again!

We arrived at the zoo in 2 vans containing 4 adults and 7 children!!

The children: Emma, John Brady, Abby, Jacob, Brenna, Jackson, and Kristen

John Brady liked the penguins!

So did Jamey and Brady!

Where to next? Brady, Kristen, Emma, and John Brady studied the zoo map.

Hanging out and having fun!

I think Jackson was tired of me taking pics! Ha!

We had a great time! Hope to go back soon!!
P.S. Thanks, Diane, for coming prepared with muffins, fruit snacks, and water and for sharing!!

John Brady can sleep anywhere!

We are in Horn Lake

We are visiting with Jamey and Brenna. The first thing Brenna wanted to do was to go skating so that is exactly what we did. The skating rink in Horn Lake is soooooo much nicer than the one in Tuscaloosa!

John Brady learned how to skate using this PVC pipe on rollers creation. Brady called him the geriatric skater!

My girls

Emma recently got braces on her bottom teeth

Got some clothespins? Cheap entertainment!

It seems like we have all been sick for the last two weeks! Only 2 of the 5 are still sick so we are making progress. This is a note Abby slipped to me when she wasn't feeling well.

Here is the great picture Emma made for her Nascar loving daddy! Brady has it on display at his office.

When he's sad, I'm sad.

When the girls and I returned from jazz class last night, I went to look in on John Brady and found him watching TV with HUGE tears rolling down his cheeks. I looked swiftly to the television to see what horrible thing he might have seen, but it was an innocent cartoon. When I asked him what was wrong, he said he didn't want to die and be put in a hole. I didn't know what to say so I asked what caused him to think about dying. I couldn't get him to answer, but Brady told me what started it. Brady's office is next to a big cemetery and that evening when he and John Brady left Brady's office, John Brady just started crying and said the same thing. What a horrible thing for a little boy to worry about! John Brady is no doubt a "worrier", but I can't handle him being so upset about dying. It breaks my heart. It makes my mind go places it shouldn't.

If anyone has any advice for what we could say if/when this comes up again, I would be very grateful. Like I said John Brady is a worrier, therefore, I am almost certain he will get upset about this again.

Young Authors' Contest and Reception

A reception was held yesterday for all of the winners of the Young Authors' Contest. Each of the winners were individually presented with a certificate, a bound booklet containing all the winning pictures and short stories, and a gift card to Wal-Mart. Refreshments were served after all of the announcements.

So I finally got to see John Brady's drawing. The Pre-K theme was "My Favorite Animal is .............". John Brady drew an awesome snake!!

Congrats to my little guy!!! We are so proud of you!!!

When John Brady went up to receive his certificate from Mrs. Sellers, he must have been a little embarrassed. His face and ears turned about three shades of red!

The Pre-K winners:

Lauren-1st place, John Brady-2nd place, Cade-3rd place
