Swim Meet #2

Our second meet of the season was on June 21 at North River Yacht Club and the place was PACKED!  Oh, how I remember barely finding a place to sit and the heat!  I'm sure seeing us all trying to share one lounge chair was quite comical, and I think it was the one and only time my mom and dad didn't bring their trusty cooler!  haha!  

Here's the text I sent to the rest of the fam during warm ups:

The kids did outstanding jobs and made us all proud AGAIN!

John Brady got 2nd in freestyle and 3rd in backstroke

Abby got 2nd in butterfly and 3rd in backstroke

Summer Swim Team

We wanted to get Abby and John Brady involved in a summer activity so our good friends, the Labresh family, helped us introduce them to a summer swim team.  We joined the Northwood Lake Swim Team and the kids began practice very soon after school was out for the summer.  Abby and John Brady practiced two to three times each week.  

Their first swim meet was June 9th at the UA Aquatic Center

 and both did outstanding!!

Abby tied for 1st in 9 yr old girls freestyle and 3rd in backstroke

John Brady got 3rd in 8 and under boys freestyle and 2nd in backstroke

Congrats Abby and John Brady!!  

Thanks Nanny and Papa for being there!!  

MeMe and Pops couldn't make it, but were being kept updated through texts. 

A surprise summer treat || Mom's banana pudding

My mom, with ingredients in hand, showed up one summer morning and began whipping up her delicious banana pudding.  It's always as yummy as it looks!!  She learned from the best, my Granny!

Chatters

A black and white cat appeared on our back porch one day earlier this year.  She perched herself there and wouldn't leave so we started caring for her.  We named her Chatters and she quickly became a part of the family.  Chatters loves to curl up with us and seems to have a bit of a hearing problem so maybe she found the right home.  ;)

Pool time with the Porters || June 2012

 Early during summer vacation we invited the Porters to swim at MeMe and Pops pool with us.  Lucky for us they were free and could join us!  It was great to spend the day with my bestie from high school and for our kiddos to swim together.  Joshua and Mei-Anna had a blast!  Mei-Anna even went down the slide by herself and Kim Porter didn't have a heart attack---haha!!  :)

Memorial Day 2012 with the Albeas

We spent Memorial Day 2012 with the Albea family on their pontoon boat 

on the Black Warrior River.  The kids had fun tubing while the adults enjoyed

 a leisurely ride!  And of course we all took pleasure

 in the occasional swims along the way!

It was a fun, fun day with friends!
